Your next phone may not have the logo on the back of it, after US President Barack Obama officially signed the E-Label.
The E-Label act means that most of the logos on the back of your phone will be able to be displayed using built-in software rather than being printed on the device itself. This means that future smartphones, like the 2016 iPhone, may not have a company logo on the back.
According to TNW , the E-Label bill was approved unanimously and passed the Senate without further issue.
The law will relieve owners of unnecessary trademarks and, as Bob Latta, the bill's initiator, says, it will save manufacturers a lot of money.
Unfortunately, the CE mark, which is present on many devices and is required by the European Union, will probably continue to exist for quite some time to come.
