DVD that will have a storage capacity of 40 thousand high-definition movies
Researchers at Swinburne University in Australia have developed a revolutionary new technology for recording DVD discs. The new technique uses two lasers to record data on the disc, thus increasing its storage capacity. Conventional DVDs have a capacity of about 5 GB. With the new method, the capacity of a DVD literally jumps to a thousand terabytes! In simpler words, on such a DVD, someone will be able to store about 40 thousand movies, and even in high definition quality. The researchers have built a prototype DVD of this truly terabyte capacity, but it is not yet known when the technology will enter industrial production.
