Nikolaos Papachristou is a PhD student at the Department of Applied Informatics, University of Macedonia, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Yiannis Refanidis.
As part of his MSc and PhD, he has developed Palamedes, a program that plays expert-level backgammon with variations such as Portes, Féyga, Plakoto, Narde and others. Palamedes won the gold medal at the last Backgammon Computer Games Olympiad.
His research interests are: Artificial Intelligence, AI gaming, Machine Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Neural Networks, and Game Playing in general.
His two projects (Palamedes and AnyGammon) are available online for everyone.
