3DTouch: Seventy years have passed since the computer mouse was "patented" and researchers at the University of Wyoming believe that the... mouse has eaten its fill.
They therefore created a «wearable» three-dimensional device that is placed on the user's index finger as a ring finger, giving them the opportunity to play the computer's function literally on the fingers.
The future thumb, also known as 3DTouch, has built-in accelerometer and gyroscope, allowing it to «read» the user's movements. It also features an optical sensor that detects the finger's motion against a two-dimensional surface. A handy button at the bottom of the finger offers the ability to select, just like the classic mouse button.
"3DTouch gives a futuristic role to the user's fingers, allowing them to successfully send commands to their computer without holding anything in their hands, select files or other data, or even rotate depicted objects," describe the researchers behind the technologically advanced thimble.
