The Conference was organized by the Hellenic Police Headquarters and the Economic Police & Cybercrime Prosecution Service, on the occasion of the "World Safer Internet Day"
The 3rd Conference on Safe Internet Browsing, organized by the Hellenic Police Headquarters and the Financial Police & Cybercrime Prosecution Service, was completed with great success
The Conference, which took place today (06.02.2014) in the morning at a central hotel in Athens, was attended and honored with his presence by the Minister of Public Order & Citizen Protection, Mr. Nikos Dendias, who, at the beginning of the proceedings, delivered a speech (see the relevant Press Release dated 06.02.2014).
Greetings were also delivered by MP Ms. Elena Rapti, member of the Greek Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, member of the Network of Parliamentarians to End Child Sexual Abuse and coordinator of the Council of Europe's "ONE in FIVE" campaign in Greece.
Also present were the Chief of the Hellenic Police, Lieutenant General Nikolaos Papagiannopoulos, the Inspector General of the Police of Southern Greece, Lieutenant General Spyridon Papaspyrou and other Officers of the Corps.
The Director of the Economic Police & Cybercrime Prosecution Service, Brigadier General Vasilios Kontogiannis, delivered a relevant speech, while the Deputy Director of the Service, Brigadier General Emmanouil Sfakianakis, made a presentation on the review of the actions of the Greek Police regarding the Internet.
The Conference was attended by representatives of the country's political, economic and intellectual life, businessmen, CEOs, Judges, Prosecutors, Professors of Law, Lawyers, Law Students and Officers of the Armed Forces and Security Forces, as well as approximately two hundred (200) children - primary school students, from public and private schools in Attica.
Among those present were the Head of the Athens Appeals Prosecutor's Office, Mr. Emmanouil Rasidakis, the Head of the Athens First Instance Prosecutor's Office, Ms. Panagiota Fakou, the Deputy Prosecutors of the Supreme Court, Ms. Xeni Dimitriou and Mr. Nikolaos Pantelis, the Deputy Prosecutors of the Appeals Court, Messrs. Panagiotis Athanasiou and Bris Galinos, the Prosecutor of the Athens First Instance Court, Mr. Ioannis Dragatsis, the President and CEO of OTE-COSMOTE, Mr. Michael Tsamaz, the Consumer Ombudsman, Mr. Evangelos Zerveas and the President of the E.S.R., Mr. Ioannis Laskarides, Vice President of the Supreme Court, emeritus.
The event, which was held on the occasion of the celebration of the World Safer Internet Day, included two (2) thematic sections. Presentations were made by distinguished and specialized scientists, from Greece and abroad, on issues related to Safer Internet Navigation.
Specifically, the two thematic units developed were:
- 1st section – “The actions of the Hellenic Police regarding the Internet”, during which the program of actions in the field of informing students, parents and other interested parties about the positive and negative aspects of the Internet and consequently the dangers that lurk when navigating it was presented. During this section, the work of the Hellenic Police in this field to date was presented, as well as the program of future actions for 2014. In addition, the television ΄΄spot ΄΄ of the new information campaign for 2014.
- 2nd section – “The Internet in our lives: what is to come”, within the framework of which the possibilities provided through the Internet were developed, constituting a source of knowledge, learning, communication, entertainment, information, while the purpose of this section was to highlight the importance of the Internet in the everyday life of modern man.
The Conference had an open structure and communication, given that it was broadcast via the internet, with live-streaming applications, from the website of the Hellenic Police (www.hellenicpolice.gr).
