Screenshots from the new Windows 8.1 update 1 build have been leaked. It looks like Microsoft will allow users to pin Metro apps to the taskbar.
A new set of images that hit the internet just a short while ago reveal that the company is working on implementing a new taskbar customization option, putting an option in the settings panel titled “Show Store Apps on the Taskbar.”.
One of the screenshots published by Win8China shows multiple Metro apps sitting on the taskbar, including People, Weather, PC Settings, Maps, and Photos, but it's not yet clear whether users will also be able to pin third-party apps, as has been the case for a while.
This could be the first step of a big change that could be completed with Windows 9, as Microsoft is rumored to be working on bringing Metro apps to the desktop and allowing users to run them in their own windows.
