General Michael Hayden's statements on the NSA and Gmail

Gmail is reportedly the “preferred” online service of terrorists.

The statement comes from General Michael Hayden, former director of the National Security Agency and Director of Central Intelligence, according to the Washington Post .

On September 15, Hayden explained that Gmail 's popularity is prevalent among international terrorists. "It's free and it's everywhere," he said, adding that this is a fact that Google will probably never advertise.

Google, of course, as usual, did not respond to Hayden's statements.

As the Washington Post notes, Hayden, in addition to references to the popular Internet service, also defended the NSA, and most notably, Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). Section 702 allows for the “targeting of foreign intelligence services and communications of aliens located abroad.”

In response to the NSA's published surveillance activities within the US, Hayden argued that the United States provides its citizens with privacy rights that are unthinkable in other countries. He noted that in other countries, intelligence agencies are always the authority and can monitor the activities of their citizens.

The practice used by Michael Hayden is well-known. It shows how well America is doing through the mistakes of other governments. Besides, if you don't praise your house, it will fall and crush you, according to the well-known popular proverb.

General Michael Hayden, by downplaying the events, tried to calm the fear and anger of citizens and, as the Washington Post reports, Hayden recognized one and only responsibility of the US: that of Internet surveillance.
