Bradley Manning was sentenced to 35 years in prison for leaking top-secret documents to WikiLeaks.
Manning, 25, was found guilty of 20 criminal charges and acquitted of the most serious charge, which he said was aiding the enemy.
If one adds up the maximum sentences from each offense, the total comes to over 130 years in prison. However, the judge agreed to merge some of the charges together, reducing the maximum possible sentence to 90 years.
The prosecution requested a minimum sentence of 60 years for soldier Pfc. Manning.
Some hope that Manning the opportunity to be released after serving at least 10 years in prison. Others want his sentence to be suspended, for the service he has rendered to his country by revealing the truth about the wars in which the United States is involved.
