US President Barack Obama met with the CEOs of Apple Inc, AT&T Incand other technology companies to discuss government surveillance, Reuters reported.
Google Inc. computer scientist Vint Cerf , along with representatives from privacy groups, along with Apple's Tim Cook and AT&T's Randall Stephenson , participated in the meeting, which was not included in Obama's daily public schedule.
“The meeting was held behind closed doors and organized in great secrecy,” Politico reports.
“It is one of a series of discussions the administration will have with experts because of the president’s desire to have a national dialogue on how to better protect privacy in today’s digital age, including how to respect privacy while also defending our national security,” an official told reporters.
The report following the revelations about the US government's surveillance tactics by Edward Snowden seems reassuring if anyone is still willing to trust the US government.
What was said inside the meeting room, of course, remains unknown.
