Emsisoft Anti-Malware Review

Searching the internet for a good option for detecting malware, such as trojans for example, we "stumbled" upon Emsisoft Anti-Malware. Emsisoft Anti-malware

We were impressed that in the tests conducted by the authoritative av-comparatives.org , the previously unknown Emsisoft Anti-Malware occupies the top positions.

We decided to investigate further. We downloaded the application and installed it on a fully updated Windows 8 system.
The installation was a breeze, and finished within 2 minutes although the installer was quite large (182 MB). After downloading all the updates, it asked us to choose the scan type, quick, smart, full or custom. We chose a quick scan to start.
Note: The program was installed on a computer that already had another anti-virus installed, as well as another Anti-Malware to compare the processes and to see if they work together and do not overlap. Although we do not recommend it to you, all the applications worked together flawlessly.
The image below shows Emsisoft's low system requirements. While it was scanning the computer we were testing, the system's CPU did not exceed 30% while the memory used by the program was only 1.4 MB. Just below is the anti-virus, which at the same time needed 3MB and 101.7MB while idle.

CPU
The application's dual-core scanner seemed very fast and we were surprised to discover how light it was during the scan. The results showed that it is lighter than products that use a single core.
The database used for the scan contains 99,298 malware samples. It is exactly the same as the one used by Bitdefender Total Security 2013.
We visited several phishing sites and Emsisoft Anti-Malware showed us that it can provide us with protection. As soon as it detects the malicious website, Anti-Malware immediately blocks it from loading and gives us a warning. With Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox it was impossible to access the phishing websites we selected.

tipThe program is designed to be easy to use (installing in Greek helps a lot in the subsequent management of the application). Emsisoft Anti-Malware, as we mentioned above, uses the Bitdefender detection engine. Before version 7.0, it used Ikarus, but it was replaced due to its tendency to show false positives for programs that were harmless.

What does it do?

Removes trojans containing backdoors, keyloggers, dialers, spyware, adware, tracking cookies, worms, viruses and rootkits from your computer.

Protects your online browsing

Conclusion

The malware detection rate is a strong point of the application. Also, the minimal consumption of system resources when running the program makes it one of the best of its kind.

Its price makes it very affordable since the cost of a one-year license is 20 euros. Along with all of the above, we were pleased to notice that the software developers have a support forum in Greek, please!

Without exaggeration in design, and with a very high percentage of reliability in scans, Emsisoft Anti-Malware reveals the goal of its development team: Emphasis on security, not on show-off.
