This is the anti-loneliness dish, and it's designed to keep your iPhone close to you so you don't feel a single second of loneliness, even if you're devouring some cheap noodles.
Its design is smarter than it looks. When the plate is empty, it acts as a speaker, significantly increasing the volume of the sound from the iPhone.
But when it's full, its true use is seen. By placing your iPhone in the obvious spot, you can talk via FaceTime with your loved ones while you eat, of course this has the negative of the camera not having such a good viewing angle, resulting in the poor person you're talking to constantly seeing your mouth swallowing whatever is in front of you.
That's why it's better to use it as a news reader for your breakfast. Open your favorite news app, fill your plate with cornflakes, and enjoy your breakfast while reading whatever interests you.
The idea is a bit extreme. Who needs a plate to hold their iPhone while they eat? And if you need something to read the news or talk on while you eat, then an iPad or iPad mini would probably be more convenient.
On the other hand, maybe it's not such a bad idea.
