iOS 10 is a big release – it's packed with tons of new features, some more useful than others – but the most notable is, without a doubt, the revamped and supercharged Messages app.
But, there is one thing you need to know if you decide that you want to enable the new iMessage features like full screen and Bubble Effects.
As we discovered when reviewing iOS 10, if you have “Reduce Motion” enabled (Settings > General > Accessibility), you won’t be able to use these features, which are activated by long-pressing the ↑ send button. An Apple said it’s not a bug, but by design.
By default, starting with iOS 7, iOS systems with Reduce Motion turned on were turned off. The setting was introduced to reduce the speed at which some users have complained of feeling dizzy when looking at the parallax of the 3D wallpaper on the home screen and zooming in on the folder. Many prefer the faded transition animations with Reduce Motion turned on during the dizzying zoom effects.
When you go to turn on Reduce Motion, the setting makes no mention of turning off the new Message effects. An Apple spokesperson clarified that Reduce Motion reduces animations as a system-wide level.
So, if you have “Reduce Motion” turned off and you press and hold the ↑ button in Messages as long as you can, you’ll be able to have these new effects enabled. Besides, you can’t help but want to try out these new features.
