Cortana in Windows 10 is a great tool for quickly glancing at news headlines on your PC, but compared to its competitors like Google Now, I sometimes find Microsoft's selection of news sites to be lacking. Recently, Microsoft added a new feature to help you fix that shortcoming, at least to some extent. Cortana now lets you remove news sites you don't like from news feed !
Note: There are some reports that talk about a US-only feature for now.
Here you can see how it works:
First, if you don't use Cortana to follow the news, open the personal digital assistant on your computer. Then, click the notebook icon on the left side of the navigation panel, and then click News. In the next navigation panel that appears, enable the News Cards option and any other new features you want to use.
Now return to the Cortana home screen to see news updates.
Let's say, for example, that our Top News section is showing news from BobsSuperNews.com and we're not covered by that site. Click the three horizontal dots at the top of Cortana's Top News section.
Once you do, on the right side of each news item you will see the Mute site, as shown in the image. Click this button and Cortana will stop showing news for all categories from that site.
If you accidentally mute a website, you'll see an option to unmute it almost immediately. For anyone who wants to unmute it after a long time, they can unmute a site by opening Cortana, tapping the notebook icon again, and selecting News again.
Go to the bottom of the settings panel and you'll see all the sites you've muted. Click on the website you want to unmute, then click the trash can icon in the bottom right corner.
The “unmute” interface is a bit “bad”, but at least there’s an alternative for when you regret muting a site.
