5 tips and tricks you need to know about Windows-10
1. Make Cortana more usefulThe
digital assistant Cortana is built into Windows 10 and works wonders if you tell her what you're interested in. Open Cortana and select the Notebook icon in its left pane. From there, navigate to customize your preferences for specific topics: news, notifications, and even the types of restaurants you like.
2. Tap into Cortana's smarts while you browse
When you're surfing the web, Cortana sometimes pops up when she has helpful additional information. For example, she can offer directions and Yelp reviews when you're on a restaurant's website. Look for a blue Cortana icon: "I've got more info" that appears in the navigation bar when it's available.
3. Become an expert in virtual desktops
The View Tasks button on the taskbar displays all the virtual desktops you've created – theoretically you can call up as many as your hardware can handle, as well as windows that are open on your active desktop .
4. Bring back Metro
If you miss the Windows 8 Start screen, you can set Windows 10 to use the touch-friendly interface by opening the Action Center, in the lower-right corner of the taskbar, and selecting tablet mode.
Search for “Tablet Mode Settings” in Cortana for more options, like the ability to enter Tablet mode by default when Windows starts.
5. Schedule your restarts
With Windows 10, once an update is downloaded, you can head to the Windows Update section of Settings, "Updates & Security," and set when you want the restart to occur. If you head to Advanced Options, you can set Windows to notify you to schedule a restart whenever an update is ready.
