Just imagine having internet speeds so incredibly fast that they rival those of Google Fiber? It seems possible thanks to the new G.Fast, a massive influx of internet speeds we're set to experience in the future.
Israeli company Sckipio has announced its new G.Fast solution that can deliver both upload and download speeds of 750 megabits per second. In comparison, these speeds are about 50 times faster than the broadband internet you probably have in your home right now.
However, even those internet speeds will seem slow to us because the next generation of chips coming out next year will offer double the speed for both upload and download. At least that's the message Sckipio is trying to convey. If our math is correct, then the speeds will equal 1.5 gigabits per second, which makes it much faster than what Google Fiber offers today.
G.Fast has shown in the past that this technology is capable of providing speeds of 750 megabits. You should be aware that equal upload and download speeds are becoming increasingly important as new technologies require ever faster upload bandwidth.
For example, with 4K videos becoming the norm, such videos that have huge sizes, to be sent over the internet, the speed must obviously be high to complete the operation in the shortest possible time.
Sckipio has stated that technology will debut in the United States later this year, and while it won't be available everywhere in the country right away, Sckipio has said that a single phone company could spread across the entire country in just four years.
When we actually start experiencing such speeds in our homes, we will understand that our beliefs that Google Fiber was the fastest we could offer were wrong.
