German spies accuse Russian spies! It may sound like an old story, but it includes a modern twist: computer hacking!

Germany's intelligence agency said on Friday it believes Russia was behind a cyberattack that took down computers in the German parliament's lower house last year, Reuters reported. The German government's computer networks suffered an average of 15 attacks a day last year.
The German agency, Bundesamt für Verfassungsschutz (Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution), has not yet responded to a request for comment. The agency has said that a hacking group called “Sofacy” (also known as APT28) and led by Russian intelligence services is most likely behind the attacks.

Hans-Georg Maassen, head of Germany's intelligence agency, told Reuters that Russia has long used computers to spy on Germany, but added that recently Russian intelligence services also appear to be trying to sabotage Germany.
The Kremlin has yet to comment on the issue. Western officials have repeatedly accused Russia, especially after its intervention in Ukraine, of engaging in a hybrid war that ranges from military provocations to large-scale propaganda campaigns and cyberattacks.
