Pi has been studied since the past, 3,000-4,000 years ago, when the Greek mathematician Archimedes gave a correct approximation of the value of pi. The Indian mathematician Aryabhatta worked on it and concluded that Pi is irrational. On the other hand, the history of Pi Day dates back to 1988, when Larry Shaw, who worked at the San Francisco Exploratorium as a physicist, first noted the day.
