What are the world's major cybercriminal ecosystems that dominate the Deep Web? TrendMicro published an interesting analysis in which it gives us the answer to this question.

An interesting new report has been published by TrendMicro experts, highlighting the differences between the main underground ecosystems worldwide.

The idea of a single, unified, global underground ecosystem is wrong, since each community has its own characteristics, and the criminal crews that make them up specialize in specific products and services.

The Russian “underworld” is defined as “a well-functioning assembly line,” an ecosystem full of professional sellers who compete with each other by providing goods in the shortest time and most efficiently possible. Marketplaces such as fe-ccshop.su and Rescator that offer products and services for credit card fraud are very popular in the criminal underground around the world.

Japan's underworld is made up of members who make extensive use of specialized terminology to evade authorities. The market is characterized by a stance toward accepting more unusual forms of payment, including gift cards and forum points instead of bitcoins or cash paid via money transfer.

The Chinese underground focuses on providing hardware for various illegal activities and is very fast in responding to demand.

The North American underworld is considered the most open to beginners, visible to both cybercriminals and law enforcement. The Canadian underground community focuses on selling counterfeit/stolen documents and certificates (fake driver's licenses and passports, stolen credit cards and other banking information, and credit “fullz” and untold amounts of personal information).

Germany's underground ecosystem is a subsidiary of the Russian one, and the market is based on DarkNets, the most popular forums that use mirrors on the Tor Network.

The Brazilian underworld is characterized by the presence of young people who do not particularly care about the law. They use the Surface Web, and exploit popular social media for their activities.
