Security researcher Troy Hunt recently discovered a Facebookthat advertised that it contained revealing photos leaked by Snapchat users.
Snapchat is a social networking service that has become particularly popular, as it allows the sharing of photos and videos, which self-destruct a few seconds later .
Cybercriminals are taking advantage of the fact that many users are looking for leaked Snapchat footage, inventing new tricks to steal their personal information.
In this specific case, Facebook users were invited to visit a website to view the revealing photos, since there was no option to post the material on the social network.
Users were instead directed to a fake Facebook login page. According to the researcher, hundreds of users provided their usernames and passwords, while the corresponding Facebook page – which has now been removed – managed to garner more than 100,000 likes.
