Google Glass, which is expected to be released on the market next year, made its first appearance in Greece. The most innovative Google Glass is being presented at the Developers Festival (DevFest) which is taking place at the Thessaloniki International Fair from November 7 to 10.
Google DEVFEST is organized by Google's developer communities and for the first time the event is taking place in our country, specifically at the Thessaloniki International Fair.
The glasses on display in Thessaloniki belong to Martin Peland, an Android developer from the Czech Republic. Peland acquired the Google glasses after receiving a distinction in a related project by the company in the US and brought them to Thessaloniki to present them to the audience at the Developers Festival.
In Prague, where he lives, he often wears them while walking down the street. "Every now and then people stop me and ask if what I'm wearing is Google Glasses and if they can try them on," he tells AMPE. "Most people look at me, and when I look at them in turn, they quickly look away," he adds.
"They are very useful because you can record videos, surf the internet, and even make calls, without using your hands, just by giving a voice command," Pelant emphasizes.
The founder of the Google Developers Group (GDG) in Thessaloniki, Panagiotis Tzinis, pointed out the need to highlight the sector of innovation and technology through DevFest and referred to the significance of the arrival of such an innovative product in the city.
"This is the first time that Google glasses are being presented in Greece, a product that is expected to change many of the current data," says Tzinis. "However, it is not only technology that will change the world. Technology helps, but in order for the world to change, we need to change our mindset," he adds.
Google Glass can record videos, take photos and provide information, and has a navigation system as well as several other features that are activated by voice command. The glasses have a battery, touch control and USB port. They have a sequential photography button and a 5 Megapixel camera. The person wearing the glasses feels like they are watching a screen equivalent to that of a 25-inch TV from a distance of three meters.
