Facebook is rolling out a new feature in events that will allow users to search for events based on location, category, and date, something that has been missing and needed for a long time.

After revamping its events section, Facebook will give users suggestions for where to go and who to go with. Launching for the first time on iOS on Saturday, the events category will make it easier for you to find events in your area.
The social network implements a filter so that users can search by date, time, location and category. Some of the categories are Music, Food & Drinks, Nightlife, Sports & Fitness and Performing Arts. Users can also find events in the “Suggested for you” category. The category has also been given a makeover to make it more attractive and easy to use.
Many experts predict that this new feature will be a huge success. Other companies had started something similar like Foursquare and Eventbride but they never took off. Only Songkick found some success but it was limited to music events.
While Facebook's new feature will encourage its users to spend more time with other people in real places and not online, it will also attract more users to the site.
When Facebook first launched Events, it focused on private parties, but after Aditya Koolwal took over as product manager in the Events category, he realized that more than half of users were using Events to find public events, so this update was decided.
