The latest version of Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview was released a few weeks ago for users to get a taste of the new changes that will be made with the full version, but there are already many who are reporting that they are already having problems.
Users from the Windows Insidersare reporting error 80073cf6 when trying to upgrade installed applications through the company's official store, with only some being able to be downloaded correctly.
This problem is mainly faced by users with version 10052 of Windows 10 Technical Preview installed, who are unable to download updates for their applications.
In the relevant Windows Insiders thread, there are reports from users who are unable to upgrade apps like Music, Foursquare, and Facebook and who have installed version 10052 of Windows 10 Preview.
The company has acknowledged the issue and has announced that it is working on a fix to fix it in the next version of Preview, which according to the company's announcement will be released soon. Until then, however, what it recommends to users is to make sure that they are using a WiFi when downloading the update for their applications and also to be careful not to let the screen go dark during the installation.
Another solution to avoid error 80073c6 is to cancel the update once it starts, completely uninstall the app from the device, and then download and clean install it directly from the Microsoft Store. The only downside is that this cannot be done for bloatware like Music, so those who want to update will have to be patient until the fix is released.
