The increasing proliferation and development of new hackinghas led to the use of sophisticated applications, devices and systems by businesses to create a security environment that is challenging even for the most experienced and dangerous hackers. However, network security and response have not kept pace with the increasing number of attacks.
According to research by CompTIA, businesses recognize that the increasing number of hacking groups (by 54%), the development of threats (52%) and the greater availability of hacking tools now have serious impacts for businesses. Attacks can be more dynamic, change type and form rapidly, and target with greater effectiveness.
Indeed, companies are using and investing in new security technologies. Data loss prevention (DLP) is one of the most common new tools, used by 58% of businesses. Identity and access management (IAM) and security information and management (SIEM) systems are also now used by a large number of businesses.
The Trends in Information Security report revealed that malware and hacking are the top threats that cause concern for all businesses. Additionally, at the top is the human factor, which causes even greater concern and may be the most difficult to address in security matters.
To address human error, more staff training in security is the answer, but companies don’t know how to do it effectively. Only 54% of businesses offer some form of cybersecurity training ,usually through new employee orientation or an annual course.
