Kaspersky denies Bloomberg Businessweek publication

Kaspersky LabFollowing the publication of SecNews.gr on the cooperation of the Kaspersky with the Russian government, we present to our readers the official response of Kaspersky Lab regarding the above issue.

We have previously reported that Russian security firm Kaspersky Labappeared to be working closely with Russian intelligence agencies to gather intelligence on its customers. In fact, a Bloomberg report states that since 2012 the company has replaced senior executives with those from the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB). Six current and former Kaspersky employees said the software company provides information to Russian spies to help the agency with its criminal investigations.

In a statement to El Reg, the anti-virus company said it works with authorities worldwide, as long as the services' requests are legal under local and international laws. It also said users themselves can choose to send information to the company if they wish.

As you will see, in the relevant link there is Eugene Kaspersky's position regarding the Bloomberg article:

“Bloomberg Businessweek published an article about Kaspersky Lab that contains significant inaccuracies, based on anonymous third-party information, allegedly from “current and former employees” of the company. This is primarily an opinion piece and not a report based on specific facts, following journalistic investigation. The company’s position in relation to this publication is reflected in Eugene Kaspersky’s blog, which is available at https://kas.pr/6yFB.”
