A proposed class-action lawsuit has been filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California against both Lenovo and Superfish, alleging fraudulent business practices and making laptops vulnerable to malicious attacks for profita result of the adware's default loading.
Jessica Bennett is the plaintiff, who claims that her Lenovo Yoga 2 laptop was damaged as a result of Superfish , which is classified as spyware in the relevant documents . Bennett accuses both companies of violating her privacy and exploiting her by recording her Internet browsing .
However, in January, when the Lenovo was asked to answer questions that had arisen regarding the display of advertising messages by Superfish, he referred to the operation of the program and stated that:
"Superfish does not analyze or track user behavior on the Web, does not know their identity, and does not target them. Each session is independent of the previous or next one. The first time Superfish is used, the relevant terms are displayed, and it is deactivated if the user refuses them.".
