New update for Windows 10 build 9926

Windows 10

Microsoft, on January 28, officially released the first update for Windows 10 build 9926, which does not have any new features, but for the most part, the company focused on fixing errors that were detected after installing this version on PCs and tablets.

The update, numbered KB3035129, is called Windows 10 Technical Preview Update Rollup: January 27, 2015, and is only being sent to Windows 10 devices. It includes a “collection of improvements to system performance and reliability,” the company says.

Just like all other patches, this new update is being sent via Windows Update. A restart is required in this case, so you should make sure you save your work before anything else.

One of the bugs that Microsoft fixed with this new patchis the problem affecting the Start menu, which sometimes fails to launch properly in this version of Windows.

According to the release notes, which you can find after installation, the update includes “a fix for an issue that could cause the Start menu to not register properly and fail to launch,” as well as improvements that are supposed to increase battery life on tablets.

Internet Explorer has received new updates with improvements, as the company claims. The update bulletin states that the browser has, “a fix for an issue that could cause delays when opening a new tab in the browser.”

The new version of Windows 10 is expected to be released in early February, likely along with the new Windows 10 for phones technical preview, which will allow users to test the first elements of the new operating system on smartphones.

There are no details yet about this new version, but it should include visual changes such as Start menu transparency and other desktop improvements.
