Storm of cyberattacks hits France after terrorist attacks
France of cyberattacks after a recent three-day terror attack that left 20 dead. Some 19,000 websites have been hit so far by groups including "Islamic hackers," the head of its cybersecurity agency said.
"We have never seen anything like this before. It is the first time a country has faced such a large wave," Admiral Arnaud Coustiger told reporters. He attributed the attacks to "more or less organized groups," including known "Islamist" groups.
The attackers targeted a variety of websites, from military services to pizzerias. In most cases, they followed the DoS (denial of service) tactic, in which target computers are inundated with connection requests until they are overwhelmed and shut down.
