US: Sony attack ordered by North Korea

Sony attack ordered by North Korea

According to American media, US authorities have reportedly concluded with "99%" certainty that the hacker attack on Sony was carried out on the orders of the North Korean government - but no official announcements have been made.

The bone of contention was the comedy The Interview, whose premiere on December 25th was postponed by Sony, in a move that is considered a victory for the perpetrators of the attack.

As reported by the Washington Post, the New York Times and the Associated Press, executives in Washington and officials close to the investigations say they have concluded that the attack was "state-sponsored" by North Korea.

"The Obama administration is considering whether to publicly announce the researchers' conclusions," the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity - as American media reports, official announcements cannot be made until Washington has decided how to react.

At the same time, Sony Pictures canceled the planned Christmas Day screening of the film The Interview, following threats from hackers and the decision of many cinemas not to screen the film.

The plot of the comedy revolves around the plot to assassinate Kim Jong-un by two American journalists.

The postponement, as Reuters notes, is a victory for hackers and confirmation of the damage that can be caused by North Korean hacker attacks.
