Intel announced that it will begin shipping Solid State Drives based on 3D NAND technology in the second half of 2015 .
The new SSDs with the new NAND flash memories are the result of the collaboration with Micron and are expected to have 32 flat layers offering 256Gb (32GB) of storage space on an MLC die, while with the help of technology the numbers will increase to 385Gb (48GB).
Intel vice president Rob Crooke emphasized that this technology will give the company the opportunity to manufacture SSDs with a capacity of 10TB within the next two years, while Intel will continue to collaborate with other companies and will not manufacture 3D NAND memories on its own.
