Two Greek journalists, Emmanuel Kaklamanos and George Moutafis, will be honored this year with the "2014 Press Freedom Award" of the Austrian section of the organization "Reporters Without Borders", which will be awarded to them at a special event on December 11 in Vienna, as stated in an announcement by the organization in the Austrian capital.

According to the announcement, the award is being awarded to Emmanuel Kaklamanos for his article on corruption in Greek politics, and to George Moutafis for his documentary entitled "Flight from Greece" and concerns the flight of irregular immigrants from the country, following unfavorable working and living conditions.

The "Press Freedom Award - A Message for Europe" has been awarded annually since 2001 to journalists, political columnists and correspondents from Southeastern Europe and neighboring countries of the European Union for critical, informative and investigative publications covering issues of politics, freedom of the press, human rights, corruption, or other related social issues, and this year it was announced exclusively for journalists from Greece.

"With this award, we want to support journalists in Greece, men and women, who are committed to and serve the international achievements of press freedom and information," said Rubina Mehring, president of the Austrian section of "Reporters Without Borders," when announcing this year's award last May.

The jury for this year's Prize included Freimut Duve, who served as the first High Representative for Freedom of the Media of the Vienna-based Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the current High Representative Dunja Mijatović, and the President of the Austrian Commission for UNESCO, Ambassador Eva Novotny.

The jury also included Wolfgang Petritsch, former High Representative of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina and current Austrian Ambassador to the OECD in Paris, former Secretary General of the Austrian Foreign Ministry Albert Rohan, and Rubina Mehring, President of the Austrian section of Reporters Without Borders.
