The world's largest high-definition digital screen, almost the size of a football field, has been inaugurated in New York's famous Times Square
Installed on the facade of a hotel, the screen is “equivalent” to the height of an eight-story building (23.74 meters) and is 100.5 meters long, covering the entire space between 45th and 46th Avenues in the heart of Times Square. The giant screen, which covers an entire building block, is now the largest advertising in the history of the historic square.
It has 24 million pixels, a density unmatched in the world for such a surface, which allows passersby to have very good vision even close to the screen, according to Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Inc., which is the manufacturer of this technological marvel
The giant screen is also connected to high-definition cameras to broadcast live images through social networks.
Google is expected to be the first company to advertise on the 2,300 m2 screen after November 24th as the technological achievement will be rented for advertising time and space until January. The price for the rental was not disclosed, but it is apparently more than $2.5 million for a period of up to four weeks, according to the New York Times. The amount seems large, but according to the initiators of the idea, it is not when you consider the hundreds of thousands of people who flock to the world's most famous square every day.
