A year and a half ago, we read about Andy Rubin 's departure from his "brainchild" Android and his involvement in the robotics sector at Google, a great passion of his that he turned into a career. Now, however, the time has come for him to permanently leave the company, as confirmed by Google itself.
"I want to wish Andy all the best for the future. With Android, he created something truly remarkable with over a billion happy users. Thank you," Google CEO Larry Page wrote in a statement.
Andy Rubin co-founded Android Inc in 2003 and joined the American giant in 2005, after the company was acquired by Google. Before that, of course, he had worked at Apple, among others, and was CEO and co-founder of Danger.
The reasons for his final departure from Google are related, according to some, to an issue regarding the structure of his team, with scientist James Kuffner taking over the role that Rubin had in the company's robotics projects.
As for his next plans, it seems that he intends to create an "incubator" for hardware startups, without knowing any more information at the moment .
