Major Greek websites are reproducing a hoaxthatstarted with huzlers.com, a site known for its "reliability." Of course, the information is not confirmed by NASA.
The breaking news publication states:
"NASA has confirmed that the Earth will experience 6 days of near-total darkness from Tuesday, December 16 to Monday, December 22, 2014.
The world will remain, during these six days, without sunlight due to a solar storm, whose dust and space debris it will cause will be so much that it will result in the blocking of 90% of sunlight.
The announcement was made by NASA Administrator Charles Bolden, who asked everyone to remain calm. This will be the result of a solar storm, the largest in the last 250 years, which will last 216 hours.
Although the six days of darkness are very close, officials say that the earth will not face any serious problems, since the six days of darkness cannot cause major damage to anything.
"We'll be relying solely on artificial light for the six days, which is not something that concerns us," says NASA scientist Earl Godoy
Some of the websites in question realized their mistake and withdrew or corrected the original text.
But apparently there are some who not only haven't realized it but are also advertising it on Facebook!
So beware of websites that chase clicks and do not confirm the news they publish. If you have already shared the article, warn your friends.
