Twitter appears to be experimenting with a friend-to-friend payments feature in France.
One of France's largest banks will partner with Twitter to allow its customers to transfer money via tweets. BPCE, the second-largest bank by number of customers, appears to be looking to expand its list of capabilities, just as Twitter is trying to get involved in the world of online payments, Reuters reports.
The bank had previously announced its intention to offer simple, person-to-person money transfers via Twitter, regardless of which bank Twitter users use. The process doesn't even require the sender to know the recipient's bank details.
The entire process involves money transfers via text messages and is based on credit card industry data security standards.
The social media giant and the bank declined to provide further details ahead of the press conference when the feature officially launches.
