Sony is forecasting fairly high losses for the current year, mainly due to relatively low sales of smartphones and tablets .
As the company announced, additional losses are expected to reach 180 billion yen ($1.7 billion), while previous forecasts called for losses of 50 billion yen.
In July, Sony announced that it had made significant profits, mainly due to the PlayStation 4, while its smartphone division was still loss-making, with a loss of 487 million each year.
In the same period last year, the smartphone sector had recorded operating losses, forcing Sony to lower its annual sales target to 43 million devices.
