Intel has announced the extreme version of its first octa-core desktop processor. The Intel Core i7-5960X, known as a member of the “Haswell-E” family, is aimed at the most demanding users who want the most performance from their computers. With uncompromising processing power, 16 threads and DDR4 memory support for content creation, gaming and multitasking applications, the Core i7 is launched as the brains of today’s fastest desktops.
Meanwhile, the new Intel X99 chipset and its extensive overclocking capabilities will allow enthusiastic users to optimize their systems for maximum performance.
Many X99-based systems will also be Thunderbolt Ready. When paired with a Thunderbolt 2 card, it allows for a super-fast 20Gbps connection to your computer. Data-intensive tasks like 4K video editing, 3-D rendering, and game development benefit from Thunderbolt 2 performance (check with your computer or motherboard manufacturer for compatibility).

At the PAX exhibition, Intel showcases what these new, high-performance, powerful systems can achieve. At Intel's booth, systems from various manufacturers using the new processor family are displayed, demonstrating popular games such as: Lucky’s Tale, Superhot with the Oculus Rift, Dark Souls 2 and Titan Fall.
Additionally, Intel will conduct a gaming demo with parallel streaming via Twitch, on a system based on the new Extreme edition of its new processor. Live game streamers will enjoy high-quality, high-resolution streams, with eight cores for a lag-free gaming experience.
Intel is working with industry partners to leverage the new platform. Major OEM manufacturers of memory, motherboards, and graphics systems will help develop this ecosystem for enthusiastic users.
