While regular Facebook has a minimum age of 13, children have found a way to gain access to a social network specifically designed for them.
This is PopJam, signed by the British children's online game company Mind Candy, and is being received with enthusiasm but also reservations by some.
This new social network is aimed at children aged 7 to 12 and allows them to share drawings, comment on other users' creations and participate in drawing competitions.
In order to calm parental concerns, PopJam founder Michael Acton Smith, also known for the successful game Moshi Monsters that counts 85,000,000 users, explains that the service will be strictly controlled.
Specifically, selfies will be prohibited, while administrators will be on standby to identify pedophiles or incidents of bullying.
