Reuters -a hacking group that supports the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and carries out attacks on news organizations.

Anyone who tried to visit the articles on the Reuters was redirected to the official Syrian Electronic Army website.

The message shared by the hackers on the website states:

Hacked by Syrian Electronic Army

Stop publishing falsified reports and fake articles about Syria!

The UK government is supporting terrorists in Syria to destroy it, Stop spreading their propaganda.”

Reuters was not directly affected by this attack, the group said. The group compromised an ad serving provider, Taboola, which Reuters uses to serve ads.

This is not the first time the group has used such an approach to hack websites. A few days earlier, the group managed to redirect users of The Sunday Times to their site after compromising the server used by both websites.
