Hackers are trying to gain access to users' computers by developing sophisticated malware and setting up botnets like the one recently discovered after an international outcry.
However, it seems that there is a very easy way for anyone to install a program that could infect users' computers!
However, a study by Carnegie Mellon had… frightening findings, since it states that a percentage of 22 to 43% of computer owners are willing to install an unknown program on their PC if they are paid from a few cents to just one dollar!
Even worse, they would install the program even if it was labeled as dangerous by their operating system and asked for permission to run.
The research team even notes that out of the 965 users who participated, only 17 had advanced knowledge to run the program in virtual machines, to minimize the chances of infection on their system.
