- Searching for products of a specific price
For example, you're looking for cameras that cost between $500 and $1,000. What do you do? You type in the product you're looking for and then the price range you'd like. In this case: Camera $500… $1,000.
- Search within a website
For example, you read an article you liked on the Huffington Post about Nelson Mandela. However, apart from the fact that you read it on the Huffington Post and the topic in general, you don't remember any further details. To find it more easily, you type site, then paste the URL of the website you want to search for, and then add your own search terms without a comma. In this case, you would type: site:www.huffingtonpost.com nelson mandela.
- Search by file type
For example, you want to make a Power Point presentation and are looking for similar assignments in the same format to get an idea. Type in the terms you are looking for and then the word filetype: followed by the file type you are looking for. For example pop rock music filetype:PPT.
- Fill in the… blanks
For example, you are looking for an article about Pop Rock music and you remember how it starts but not very well. About. To make it easier, you write the sentence as you remember it and replace the words you are not sure of with asterisks.
