Jimmy is coming to market in the coming months
Intel has unveiled a robot that walks, talks, and can send tweets, which is printed at home.
The 30-inch robot, named Jimmy, is assembled from 3D-printed parts. The printing designs will be released to the market in the coming months.
The cost of the assembly kit will be around 1,600 euros, according to Reuters, but it is expected to fall below $1,000 in a few years.
The kit will also include some non-printable mechanical parts of the robot, as well as Intel's also non-printable Edison processor.
The robot can be programmed to sing, speak different languages, send messages on Twitter, serve drinks and much more.
Owners of robots like Jimmy will be able to program them at will to do unique things, while they will be able to share these programs with other users, in the form of applications that can be found on the Internet.
Intel is trying to regain lost ground in new technologies and, among other things, aims to create "smart" clothing, as well as to manufacture assembled and autonomous flying robots (drones), which will be aimed at hobbyists.
