Microsoft announced that Office for iPad, which has been officially released since late March, has recorded 27 million downloads so far.
The announcement was made by Julia White, general manager of Microsoft's Office Division, during the TechEd North America 2014 conference in Houston.
Office for iPad is free for those who just want to view documents in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, but to take advantage of all the features and edit documents, a subscription to Microsoft's Office 365 service is required.
The cheapest subscription plan currently available is Office 365 Personal, which is priced at $6.99 (€5.05) per month and $69.99 (€50.5) per year. Office 365 Personal can be used on a PC or Mac and a tablet at the same time.
