Hackers from the Russian Cyber Command (Rucyborg) group have managed to breach the network of the Chinese in Moscow, leaking documents that prove that China provided equipment with backdoors to Russian aluminum producer Rusal. Rusal in turn channeled the equipment to Altron, a Ukrainian security and telecommunications systems developer that has worked with multiple government agencies and high-profile Ukrainian companies.
Altron allegedly installed the equipment in the telecommunications company Intertelecom's infrastructure, with the aim of monitoring its activities.
The hackers claim that Viktor Yanukovych, the former president of Ukraine, and Nikolay Malomuzh, the former head of Ukraine's intelligence service, collaborated with Russia on this espionage.
The hacktivists posted files and scanned documents on Imgur that include information about Intertelecom's infrastructure, as well as details of 100,000 customers, which they stole from the Chinese embassy with the help of a Remote Access Trojan (RAT), which they installed with the help of spear phishing emails.
