Let's imagine for a moment that we are sitting in a windowless interior, while at the same time having the sensation of the sun on our face. This is not an illusion or a fictional scenario, since this unique experience is made possible thanks to the COELUX.
COELUX, which is funded by the European Union, reproduces the physical and optical effects of natural light indoors by simulating the diffusion and transmission of sunlight through the atmosphere.
This is a revolutionary innovation in the modern lighting and design industry, which combines three key elements:
• The latest energy-saving LED technology to reproduce the spectrum of sunlight
• A sophisticated optical system to create the sense of distance between the “sky” and the “sun”
• Nanostructured materials just a few millimeters thick, to create the Rayleigh scattering process that takes place in the atmosphere
And if we are still wondering what the benefit of the revolutionary technology will be, the answer is simple: With COELUX we will have sunshine at all times, even in indoor and underground spaces. It has been proven that the phenomenon of the presence of sunlight has a positive effect on our comfort and well-being, while in addition, those who do not have access to enough sunlight will benefit from COELUX light diffusion technology.
It was designed with the healthcare industry in mind, but can be used in retail, hotels, museums, airports, subways, spas, sports centers, cinemas, offices, and factory environments. People who work or live indoors, either due to space constraints or to deal with extreme climate conditions, such as in Canada or the United Arab Emirates, will benefit the most from this technology. The same applies to residents of countries far from the equator, near the Arctic or Antarctica, which have very little natural light for large parts of the year.
COELUX technology will be ready to hit the market towards the end of 2014 and promises to bring more light into our lives!
