Windows 8.1 Update 1 , which recently hit the web, comes with several important features, including the ability to pin Metro apps to the taskbar and therefore launch them faster.
McAkins Online has discovered that Windows Store apps running in multiple windows also have multi-window thumbnails on the taskbar, a display that has been around since Windows 7.
Of course, this particular version will play a much more important role in Windows 9, when Microsoft is expected to blend the Metro UI and the desktop even more, allowing users to run modern apps on their own desktop.
Windows 8.1 Update 1 on the other hand is expected to debut this April, with Microsoft offering it for free to Windows 8.1 users through the built-in Windows Update feature.
