The spirit of Steve Jobs lives on – not just through your Mac and iPhone, but also through a time capsule.
The capsule, buried by Jobs and several others at the International Design Conference in Aspen in 1983, was filled with personal items, including the Lisa mouse. This mouse has been recognized as an important piece of history. Jobs used it at the conference, where he predicted many innovations we use today. He envisioned the future of computers and the Internet, creating the App Store, wireless networking, and other Apple technologies.
The conference organizers wanted to find the capsule in 2000, but they were unsuccessful. However, thanks to the National Geographic show Diggers, the organizers finally discovered it.
While many items in the capsule appear to have been damaged, the Lisa mouse and other items were protected in plastic bags. Diggers co-organizer Tim Saylor was shocked by the findings.
In addition to the mouse, the time capsule included a six-pack of Ballantine's beer and a Rubik's Cube – and of course a rather musty smell.
You can watch the unveiling of the time capsule at Diggers on February 25th.
