Microsoft has significantly improved language support in Windows 8.1, and the operating system can now be used in more than 7,000 languages or dialects and 202 keyboard layouts.
According to a new Redmond blog post, the new operating system makes it very simple to use multiple languages on a single computer.
“There are many reasons why you might use multiple languages on your computer,” explains Microsoft. “Maybe you live in a country where many languages or dialects are spoken. Maybe you communicate with your family in one language, and with your coworkers in another. Or maybe you’re studying a foreign language and want to practice reading or writing.”
By default, Windows 8.1 provides support for 108 languages, but with the help of special packages available for download, you can easily enhance your operating system by adding support for new languages.
At the same time, Microsoft is giving users the ability to create their own language pack for Windows 8.1, and is working to add support for even more languages in upcoming updates.
