Mobile phone users, especially those who have smartphones, which they have spent a fortune on, will now have one less headache, since thieves will now be hesitant to grab them.
The reason is that the National Telecommunications and Postal Commission (EETT), in order to put a stop to the scourge of mobile phone thefts, decided to render useless mobile phones that fall into the hands of thieves and receivers of stolen goods.
Specifically, the new regulation of EETT is expected to be implemented next month, under which mobile phone companies will block stolen mobile phones from their network. This will happen as soon as the owner reports the loss of the device to the company it belongs to. He will provide the unique IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) code that the device carries and then it will be blocked completely and not at the sim level, for all Greek networks. This means that now the companies will have to keep lists with the IMEI number of the devices.
