Telecommunications giant Orange, one of France's largest telecommunications companies, has been hit by a hacking attack . The attack led to the leakage of personal information of 800,000 customers
French newspaper Le Figaro reports that the company's systems were attacked on January 16, via the "My Account" section of the Orange.fr website.
The company has not yet revealed many details about the breach, which it notified its customers via email, stating that the affected website was taken offline after the attack was detected and immediate technical measures were taken to effectively deal with it.
“We truly regret this incident. Now, more than ever, the security of our customers’ data is a priority, and we are committed to effectively protecting and safeguarding customers’ privacy,” an Orange spokesperson said.
The attack resulted in the leakage of personal information of at least 800,000 customers, equivalent to three percent of the company's total customer database.
