It was recently revealed that the systems of American retail company Target were breached by cybercriminals, leading to the theft of personal information from at least 110 million customers.
The case is being investigated by the US Department of Justice, while authorities say they are determined to identify not only the individuals directly responsible for the breach of the company's systems, but also those who misused the stolen customer payment card information
So far, two people who fall into the latter category have been arrested and taken into custody. The perpetrators were caught while trying to cross the Mexico-US border, carrying more than 100 cards in their possession, which were created with data stolen from Target.
In total, the details of 40 million payment cards have been exposed through the company's breach.
